ELECTIONS FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR
Each spring the Band Parent Organization (BPO) team takes the opportunity to thank last year’s BPO Board and Chair for their service and begin the process of electing a new Board and assigning new event chairs for the upcoming school year.
Our Band Parent Organization works hard to both lessen student fees and support the band director’s program goals. There are many opportunities to become involved within your own comfort level, strengths and interests. All Board positions, and event chair and team helpers are unpaid volunteer positions. Parents organize by being:
- Participate in the BPO by holding an elected board position.
- Event chairs to organize an event or group of tasks throughout the school year.
- Assist event chairs by participating in the event committee.
Timeline:
April: Updated Executive Board and Chair descriptions distributed to all parent members. Nominations are accepted for next year’s Executive Board and Chair positions.
May: Nominees are introduced at parent meeting, time is given for each nominee to introduce him or herself. An online election via Google vote to all fully paid parent members takes place.
June: Announcement of new BPO Executive Board, which is effective immediately.
